Hesco MIL Standard Blast Barrier — Military Grade Gabion for Force Protection
When Your Perimeter Must Hold Against Blast, Ballistics, and Vehicle Threats — You Need the Original Concertainer
What Problem Does This Solve?
Traditional concrete blast walls take weeks to install and cannot be relocated when missions change. Sandbags are labor-intensive and offer limited blast protection. The Hesco MIL Standard Blast Barrier solves both problems — it deploys in hours with minimal labor using local fill materials, and can be relocated or reconfigured as operational needs evolve.
Feature — Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Wire Mesh Construction
The MIL series uses heavy-gauge steel wire (3mm-5mm diameter depending on threat level) formed into a hexagonal or rectangular mesh and hot-dip galvanized after welding. This provides maximum corrosion resistance in marine environments, desert heat, and tropical humidity — the conditions your forward operating bases actually face.
Benefit to you:
- No rust-through in coastal or flood environments — 10-25 year service life
- Withstands blast overpressure from under-barrel explosions without catastrophic failure
- Absorbs and disperses blast energy across the entire unit rather than concentrating at failure points
- Galvanized coating maintains structural integrity even when geotextile liner is damaged
Feature — Modular Concertina Folding Design
Each unit ships collapsed flat — multiple units stacked on a single pallet. Unfold and fill with sand, soil, or gravel using a front-end loader. No specialized tools, no pre-fabrication, no heavy lifting equipment needed in theater. Units connect via steel pins to form continuous walls of any length or height.
Benefit to you:
- Reduce shipping volume by up to 85% vs. pre-assembled alternatives
- 4 soldiers + 1 front-end loader can deploy 100m of 2m-high barrier in under 4 hours
- No return freight costs — leave filled units in position or reconfigure as needed
- Infinitely expandable: pin additional units to extend, stack to raise height
Feature — Heavy-Duty Non-Woven Geotextile Liner
Every MIL unit includes a bonded non-woven geotextile liner that prevents fine fill materials (sand, fine gravel) from leaking through the mesh while allowing water to drain freely. This prevents waterlogging, hydrostatic pressure buildup, and premature failure in wet environments.
Benefit to you:
- No fill material loss through mesh — barrier maintains structural integrity over years
- Freely draining design prevents freeze-thaw damage in cold climate deployments
- Geotextile acts as secondary containment for environmental protection applications
Size & Application
Popular MIL Series Configurations
| Model | Assembled Dimensions (H x W x L) | Fill Volume | Unit Weight (empty) | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MIL-1 | 1.0m x 1.0m x 1.0m | 1.0 m3 | ~8 kg | Individual cells, corner sections |
| MIL-2 | 1.0m x 1.0m x 2.0m | 2.0 m3 | ~12 kg | Standard barrier section, checkpoints |
| MIL-3 | 1.0m x 1.0m x 3.0m | 3.0 m3 | ~16 kg | Perimeter sections, wall segments |
| MIL-4 | 1.0m x 1.0m x 4.0m | 4.0 m3 | ~20 kg | Standard barrier section |
| MIL-7 | 1.0m x 1.0m x 7.0m | 7.0 m3 | ~32 kg | Long perimeter runs, economical |
| MIL-9 | 1.0m x 1.0m x 9.0m | 9.0 m3 | ~40 kg | Long barrier, high volume fill |
| MIL-16 | 1.0m x 1.0m x 16.0m | 16.0 m3 | ~65 kg | Maximum length, flood levees |
Applications
- Forward Operating Base (FOB) perimeter security and force protection
- Military base entry control points (ECP) and checkpoint construction
- Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) containment walls
- Vehicle barrier and anti-ramming protection
- Emergency flood control levee construction (USACE tested and approved)
- Critical infrastructure protection: airports, power plants, government facilities
- Prison and correctional facility perimeter security
- Wildfire containment barriers and erosion control (civil engineering)
Deployment and Filling
Standard filling material: locally-sourced sand, dry soil, or 5-20mm gravel. Fill using front-end loader, excavator, or helibucket. No pre-mixing or specialized aggregate required. Standard deployment crew: 4 personnel + 1 front-end loader. Typical deployment rate: 50-100m of 2m-high barrier per 4-hour shift.
How to order
How to Order Hesco MIL Blast Barriers
Step 1 – Send Your Requirements
Provide the following via email or WhatsApp:
- Model(s) required (MIL-1 through MIL-16 or custom)
- Quantity of units per model
- Total linear meters of barrier required
- Threat level (small arms, IED, vehicle ramming — determines wire gauge)
- Application (military, flood control, infrastructure)
- Fill material available on site (sand, gravel, soil)
- Deployment timeline requirements
- Destination country and port
Step 2 – Technical Review and Quotation
Our team reviews your specifications and recommends:
- Optimal model mix for your layout
- Wire gauge selection based on threat assessment
- Accessories: connection pins, geotextile spare liners, grounding kits
- Container loading plan for optimal shipping efficiency
- Formal quotation: EXW, FOB, CIF, DDP available
Step 3 – Sample and Qualification
For first orders or new applications, we strongly recommend ordering sample units (2-5 pieces) for physical qualification. We can provide sample units of MIL-2 and MIL-4 for testing before full production run.
Step 4 – Production and Inspection
Production lead time: 2-4 weeks for standard orders; 4-6 weeks for custom configurations. 100% inspection before shipment: wire tensile strength test, mesh aperture measurement, geotextile weight and permeability test, dimensional check.
Step 5 – Packaging and Shipment
Export packaging: vacuum-bundled units on wooden pallets, stretch-wrapped, containerized. Shipping via 20GP (approx. 200-300 units MIL-2 equivalent) or 40HQ (400-600 units). Sea freight and air freight available.
Payment Methods
T/T bank transfer. 30% deposit / 70% against copy of Bill of Lading.
