MMO Titanium Anode for PEM Water Electrolysis
Engineered for PEM Electrolyzer Manufacturers — Maximum Efficiency, Minimum Degradation
What Problem Does This Solve?
PEM water electrolysis operates in a highly acidic environment (pH 2-4) with high current densities and elevated temperatures. Standard anodes degrade rapidly under these conditions, leading to frequent replacements, unplanned downtime, and inflated hydrogen production costs. Our MMO titanium anodes are specifically formulated to withstand these harsh conditions over tens of thousands of operating hours.
Feature — Iridium-Tantalum (Ir-Ta) MMO Coating
Our proprietary Ir-Ta mixed metal oxide coating is applied via a high-temperature thermal decomposition process that creates a durable, highly catalytic surface. The coating achieves oxygen evolution reaction (OER) kinetics among the best in class for PEM conditions, directly translating to lower cell voltage and reduced electricity consumption per Nm3 of hydrogen produced.
Benefit to you:
- Lower operating voltage = lower energy cost per kg of H2 produced
- Reduced catalyst loading without sacrificing performance = better cost efficiency
- Stable performance across wide load-following ranges (20%-100% rated power)
Feature — aerospace-grade Titanium Substrate
We use Grade 1 or Grade 2 titanium conforming to ASTM B348, with full traceability from raw material to finished electrode. The substrate provides exceptional mechanical strength and corrosion resistance at operating temperatures up to 80C, while maintaining the necessary electrical conductivity for efficient current distribution across the electrode surface.
Benefit to you:
- No substrate degradation even after 50,000+ operating hours
- Consistent performance from first hour to last hour of service life
- Compatible with all major PEM electrolyzer stack designs on the market
Feature — Custom Electrode Geometry
We manufacture anodes in virtually any geometry your electrolyzer design requires: flat plates, expanded mesh, tubular electrodes, rod arrays, and 3D-structured configurations. Our engineering team works directly with your R&D and design teams to optimize electrode geometry for maximum active surface area within your stack envelope.
Benefit to you:
- Plug-and-play replacement anodes that fit your existing stack without modification
- Optimization of active surface area reduces the number of cells needed for target H2 output
- Reduced balance of plant complexity and cost

How to order
How to Order MMO Titanium Anodes for PEM Electrolyzers
Step 1 – Send Your Requirements
Provide the following via email or WhatsApp:
- Target hydrogen production rate (Nm3/hr or kg/day)
- Operating current density (A/m2) and stack voltage
- Electrode geometry and dimensions (or electrolyzer stack model)
- PEM membrane type (Nafion, Aquivion, Fumapem, etc.)
- Operating temperature and pressure range
- Target service life (hours) and target cell voltage
- Quantity (pieces per stack, number of stacks)
Step 2 – Technical Review and Quotation
Our electrochemistry and materials engineering team reviews your specifications and recommends the optimal coating formulation and electrode geometry. We provide:
- Technical recommendation report
- Formal quotation (EXW, FOB, CIF, DDP available)
- Sample availability and qualification lead time
- BOM compatibility check against your electrolyzer specifications
Step 3 – Sample and Qualification
For new applications, we strongly recommend a sample order (2-5 pieces) for laboratory qualification. We can provide standardized test protocols for performance benchmarking against your current supplier.
Step 4 – Production and Inspection
Production lead time: 3-5 weeks for standard items; 5-8 weeks for custom geometries. 100% inspection before shipment, including coating thickness (EDXRF), surface morphology (SEM), and accelerated life testing on sample electrodes from each batch.
Step 5 – Packaging and Shipment
Export-grade packaging: vacuum-sealed with desiccant, foam-lined wooden crates. Air freight and sea freight available. Door-to-door DDP service to major destination countries.
